Kid Fun – Tyke Hikes at the Houston Arboretum
Kid Fun loves to share ideas on things to do with kids in Houston. When my children were younger, we loved to attend the weekly Tyke Hikes on Monday mornings provided by the Houston Arboretum.
Houston Arboretum Tyke Hike
The Tyke Hikes are designed to expose young children to nature at the Arboretum. They are offered for children ages 18 months to 3 years old. During the event, they read books, offer a nature walk, and provide various activities related to the weekly theme.
The Tyke Hikes take place on Mondays at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. In the Fall season of 2016, they are offered from September 12 to December 12. The cost of the class is free for members and $6 for nonmembers.
They encourage you to dress accordingly with closed toe shoes. The Tyke Hikes take place even if it rains. Children under one are free, and parents must accompany their children at the events.
The weekly topics are themes such as owls, squirrels, trees, worms, birds, etc. You might also enjoy their Discovery Room filled with puzzles, games, hands on learning, microscopes, a fish tank, and lots more.
